Sea kayak in crystal blue seas, sleep under the stars on isolated beaches on traditional islands, where you can sample real Greek life.
This program is designed for those who enjoy sea kayaking and desire to discover the hidden beauties of Greece. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauties of the Ionian Sea, stopping at delightful authentic Greek Islands and sampling the natural and cultural delights.
Ever since mythical sailor explore, the Ionian Sea has held an irresistible fascination for seafarers. It is easy to see why. Set in crystal clear waters, dozens of islands extend from uninhabited sandy beaches to forested mountains rearing high out of ocean. Every day, we are paddling in the area's protected waters and every evening we explore the islets interior offering excellent hiking opportunities amongst cypress lines whilst enjoying sweeping views and idyllic sunsets.

1 day

Vassiliki-Meganisi

Miles:13,7

After arriving at our starting point(Vassiliki Bay), our guide will give an introductory speech. All participates will get acquainted to the kayaks by participating to a short trip . You will be given all the nessesary gear for the excursion. Our guides will take you through the program and give you helpful informations and tips. Any extra luggage you may have, can be safely stored at our base. You will start paddling by heading east firstly at the sandy beaches of southern Lefkas, then a short stop at Sivota bay (a traditional fishing village) for a pic nic. You can continue paddling for 20 minutes till the cave of the bats. You can enter the cave with your kayak and then continue to paddle towards the island of Meganisi (camping grounds). There is a taverna nearby the camping site which can provide you with water, food and toilets facilities.

2nd Day

Meganisi-Skorpios-Meganisi

Miles : 10,6

You paddle to the town of Meganisi Spartochori, where you can leave the Kayaks at the small marina and walk up to the town where there is an old castle that offers spectacular views of the Ionian Islands. Then you leave the island of Meganisi and paddle to the famous island of Scorpios that is still owned by the famous Onassis family. You can circuit paddle this beautiful island where you also view the beach bungalow of Jackie Kennedy. This day paddling is apr ox. 5 hours (11 nautical miles). At the end of the day you return to Meganisi for dinner at a local taverna near the camp site.

HIGHLIGHT

3rd Day

Meganisi – Formikoula-Kalamos

Miles :13,8

You start the paddlling past the west coast of Meganisi that has many caves and head to the island of Formicoula (volcanic) full of beautiful caves and interesting snorkeling. On Formicoula you can enjoy some snorkeling in the reef and then paddle to the island of Kalamos. On the way to Kalamos you can stop at Porto de Leone for lunch. Total paddling time on this day aprox 8 hours ( 13.5 nautical miles). On this night you will sleep on the isolated beach of Kalamos and sleep under the trees around the fire. For dinner you will walk for 20 min to Kalamos village. Kalamos is a tiny little fishing village where you will enjoy a traditional meal at a taverna.

4th Day

Kalamos –Kastos-Kalamos

Miles: 12,5

From Kalamos you cross to the olive covered island of Kastos with its crystal clear waters. In the evening you can walk to the settlement of the island where we can enjoy dinner in a local tavern. Return to Kalamos for your overnight camping on the beach. 5 hours paddling

5th Day

Kalamos – Thilia Island

Miles: 13

From here is starting your return day. You padlle heading north east till you pass the north side of kalamos Island and then you heading west to Meganisi Island. After you pass the north side of Meganisi which having fiord formation you will find the small uninhabided Island of Thilia. You will camp there.

Highlight of the day .

6th Day

Thilia - Vassiliki

Today is your last day paddling. You start paddling south. Your first stop will be in Poros bay which you can visit the Cyclope cave. You can stop for a swim and then you continiew your way south till Vassiliki Village.
